hi mark how are you. i was on vacation for 10 days and when i came back i saw that 90% of my live stock dead, my picasso, snowflake, chromis, copperband, wrasse, its been sad times since then. cause of this problem was filter pad over my return pump that clogged and there was no circulation in between sump and display tank. tank was doing beautiful. i have problem with alage on the sandbed and redslime geenhair on some of my tonga branches which is not that bad yet and i checked my phosphate with hanna and it showed 1.03 and i know its high and i have changed 40 gal water change and changed gfo media and blow rock and vaccume sandbed. still it shoes very little change. my tank size is 110 gal year old and establised sump with mangrove, culerpa, cheato. do you think i should try kent phos sponge and see or you have some better solution. please help me.
thank you
ravi

hi, i have a 44 gallon tank with no sump. Will i struggle to keep a reef system or is it still possible? Also is a skimmer essential?

Hey Mark, how do I visit your store? Im shopping for a controller and would like to see what all you offer. Thanks

Mark Callahan January 5, 2012 at 10:22 am

cweber…I don’t maintain an online store I chose to work with people 1:1 to make sure I get them the right gear for their tank. I will send you an email to talk further.

Hello Mark, I wish to request permission to place your link on my webpages to get my paying members to visit your site. Thanks for inspiring me on my website and I hope to see everyone at MACNA this year 2012

jason andrews January 15, 2012 at 12:36 pm

Mark,
Ive also tried contacting Vivid Aquariums as well to much the same issue, except I want to offer promo codes to my paying members so they will have the savings and be driven to the websites and places you recomend on your site and videos. Alot of members actually request a code from vivid since they watched your vivid episode and I can not get Vivid to reply :(

I left an attachment earlier on your website showing all my aquarium components and what the problem was with my protein skimmer. Well…I just went to clean out the entire skimmer, again, because it wasn’t doing anything – thinking it was due to my doser, and now the pump from the skimmer won’t even start again when I plug it back in. I guess it was on it’s last leg. I’ve ordered a new one online, not finding one like it where I live in Austin. Hopefully the tank will manage without a protein skimmer until the pump arrives?
