Wherever there’s a saltwater tank, there’s likely going to be 2 things:

  • A sump
  • Left over Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) pieces

Since PVC will never biodegrade, here’s Luis’ tip on how to put it to good use to make your sump look great.

Good tip Mark, it seems like the sump area becomes the area we always neglect to keep clean.

This is seriously, a really good idea. ‘Why didn’t I think of that’!

I just figured out what to put on the side of the crib for feeding time :)

Lucas January 11, 2013 at 6:33 pm

Too bad my sump has a rim on it. :/ (20g High)

Mark Callahan January 11, 2013 at 10:44 pm

Lucas…just cut a bigger slit down the length of the PVC. Also, if you get schedule 20 PVC, it is thinner so you could flex it to fit around the tank lip.

Mark Callahan January 11, 2013 at 10:45 pm

jrock…that’s just wrong!

Mark Callahan January 11, 2013 at 10:47 pm

Mark…they are blacker ice clownfish from ProAquatix

Daniel January 14, 2013 at 3:22 am

Why didn’t I think of that??!! All my tubing is held to the sump using pegs. I think it’s time to do DIY that dusty tube…

Ian Skinner January 22, 2013 at 11:13 pm

Excellent tip. Already constructed and installed. Works like a charm!
