Mark, did I see Peppermint Shrimp in one of your tanks with a Nigerian Trigger? The video that mentions cutting little strips in the algae sheets. My Nigerian (his name is Nigell, he’s 9 yrs old now, eats all my shrimp. Love the quick tips always. —–Maurice

A different take on the drip acclamation.

I took a gallon milk/water jug and cut the front quarter out of it so the bottom 1/2 and the back with the handle are still in tact.

Then I drilled or poked a hole in the front part about 2-3 inches below the cut line, so water can flow out of that.

I take airline tubing with an air control valve on one end of it.

Start a drip from my tank.

Adjust the flow that I want and run the end of the tubing through the handle of the jug on what would be the inside of the jug through to where it comes out right below the cut line I made earlier.

Pour the fish and water into the jug and let it drip form 20-30 min.

If too much water enters the jug then it flows out the hole that was drilled in the front and back into the sump.

I forgot to mention I sit this on lid of my sump with the hole positioned over the opening of the sump.

Hard to explain, but maybe I can do a still or video someday.

Nice video. Where do you get all of your funny t-shirts? Some of those are absolutely hilarious.

  • Chip says:

I have green hair like alge on my live rock. When I do a water change, about every two weeks, I try and remove as much as possible. It’s a 30 gal tank with 2 damsiles, 2 oscilaris clowns, a gold head goby, and a chocolate chip star fish. Is there something I can introduce that will enjoy this alge as a food sorce? Or will I just have to continue pulling it from the rock as I have been?
    Thank you in advance,
    Chip K

  • Roger says:

    Hi Mark,
What do you think of running a clip on raising your own live brine shrimp ? Is it worth the fuss for those without access to live brine shrimp? Is frozen just as good?

  • Roger says:

Are filter socks really necessary? If some reefers are running tanks without them with clear water, why bother with that extra step in aquarium maintenance?
