Mr. Saltwater Tank’s 225 Gallon VIP Tank 1 Year Update

In the first year of a saltwater aquarium’s life, usually the owner either quits the hobby or has completely fallen in love with their tank. In the case of one of my VIP clients, he’ll readily admit that he has a new love in his life.

Mark – is there a place where you are sharing your program used on yours or this VIP EcoTech Radion lightening schedule. I heard you say 70% intensity, but at what level. Can you provide a copy of your lightening program. I currently have three EcoTech Radion (also 1st gen) and would like some guidance. Thanks.

Hey Mark- I’m interested in the Radion program you are running also.. I just put a set of Gen2 radions above my 120 gallon and still trying to find the best program..
    Thanks

Deborah Findley, If you are not in Hot Springs I would like to know the fish store you are dealing with. If they are a large store then that means more selections for me. I would recommend North Side Aquatics in Maumelle, AR if your are near there.
If you are dealing with the store in Hot Springs, read my post above.

That’s a beautiful looking setup in the video. I sadly don’t have the patience to build it up over 1 year – with my aquarium I think I had the fish in before the substrate had even had a chance to fully settle.

  • That’s funny Georg! Most Germans have a lot of patience and I guess you are the exception to the norm!

I too would like to know of your ecotech lighting program for that tank you setup. As I,m currently setting up my new 225 gal rimless tank some what like your tank, with all the trimmings pic’s will follow upon completion in the new year. Your input would be asset too me, thanks Scott

    Mark,
Just what is a VIP client? A good guess is a reef junkie with unlimited cash to pay you to build a reef tank? What did it cost to get this tank up and running? Looks great!

  • Leonard… the financial details of client builds are always confidential. VIP client status is obtained when an individual spends $1000 or more with me by purchasing guides, equipment, tank build services or consulting services.

    Hi Mark,
I’ve had a 210 setup for little more than a year now, heavily stocked, LED’s
80 gallon sump Octopus skimmer, RODI unit, Chato, etc, etc, etc.

500 lbs of LR, 400 lb of live sand, 6″ bed, dosing like most do, ATO,
I’ve had a heck of a time to get any coraline spotting, spreading.
I do have coraline algae on much of my rock, but cannot get it to spread and spot on the back glass, what gives?

Can send you pics if need be, have thousands as I’m a DP and Photographer with my TV/Film Production Company based just outside of Dallas, TX.

Thanks for your help or advice,

    Tim Darnell
