Hey I have I was wounding what Skimmer I can get for my 30 gallon reef with 15 gallon sump that is not much money cause all I see are skimmers that are really expensive. Hope you may have some options!!

  • Kurt…I’m not a fan of going cheap, esp. on skimmers. A cheap skimmer will not skim well, dump microbubbles in your tank, probably be loud and overall, be a PITA.

I used this skimmer on my 30g and it worked great. It wasn’t cheap, but I tried to be cheap the first time around and it was a headache the whole time.

Hey I love your videos. They are very informative
and fun to watch. I am wondering, do you have any startup type video’s that I can buy? I am looking at teaching some kids about what it takes to set up, run and maintain a reef tank and a fish only tank. It seems to be a good summer project that seems to keeps some of the local youth out of trouble.
    Thank You, Shaun Dunn

  • Shaun…I don’t right now, but I’ve been considering it. I’ll email you to talk further.

Help! I want to get an aggressive fish (damsel) out of a reef tank. Any suggestions for netting it? It’s very fast and I have been trying for days. Thanks

  • Usually netting damsel fish is worthless as they are so fast. I’d get a trap as the more aggressive fish will jump right into the trap if you bait it with food.

If HAD to net them, you’re best bet is to either drop the level of the water in your tank really low so they can’t dart into the rocks or remove the rocks to catch them.
