Mr. Saltwater Tank’s 450g Tank Swap

I have pet peeves when it comes to saltwater tanks. One of them drove me so crazy I decided to take drastic measures to do something about it.

Finally a video of your tank, starting over again… Good luck Mark, we miss your Friday Morning Quick Tip videos or any video you put out. 🙂

  • Matt says:

Damn Mark, you got some serious money to blow. Haha I wish I could afford to replace a tank over a pet peeve, let alone afford a single 450 gallon tank.

  • Tom says:

Wow, wish I could have ur money, didn’t think u would ever have gotten rid of that old tank!!

  • steve from England says:

Hi Mark , nice tank , but whats happened to the friday morning quik tip and all the other bits of info. we are feeling neglected.
Never forget were you started from

  • ruben says:

hi mark awesome tank but what happened to that Friday morning tips and your other videos ? don’t forget all of us good luck in your new tank looks awesome thank u for all the pass information was really good and helpful

  • Derek says:

That over flow box is sexy. Now I want one!

  • Helen says:

I am glad things are going well for you. That is a nice looking system. May I assume that you do not care for in-tank overflows? I have to admit that I would redesign mine if I could…probably to a Calfo coast to coast with Bean Animal drain set up. Maybe in my next tank….lol.

  • Matt says:

Did anyone else notice the Sloth Pugging up the hard worth ethic… again…

As a sane normal person this would be a rubber lined room and nothing sharper than a tennis ball for six months move… Fortunately as a reef junkie this is entirely acceptable behavior that would barely raise an eyebrow …

  • Hai says:

Congrat on the new tank. It seem like ever since you broke down your 90g fully mature tank, you couldnt never satisfy with any new tank. My advise, pick a tank and try to grow that into another mature fully growth sps like how your 90g is instead keep setting up than break it down again and again. Anyway have a great day.

  • Personally I object to the look of the powerhead itself rather than the wires, but they are both ugly. I understand completely why you want everything perfect in your dream tank because I’m the same way. However you take the Reef Junkie Crown because replacing your tank to get rid of a wire tops anything I’ve ever heard. My tank is walk around with a 360 degree view. I wrestle with hiding the powerheads and wires and am always moving them around and looking for alternatives. In the future I will think of you for inspiration. Good luck Mark. Looking forward to seeing what you did with the other tank.

  • Darren Cpaon says:

Thanks for the video, I am another one that’s wondering where have you videos gone I to love watching them, anyway that looks like a great size tank.

  • Pierre Bouic says:

Hi Mark, just curious about what you do with all your stock and rock between the tanks, do you put it all in your fish room, in the frag system. And your fish too.
Please do a rebuild video of you putting everything back together, I,m curious about how its all done.

  • Pierre…the fish and corals are in holding tanks throughout my house. Wife is not overly thrilled!

  • Darren, Steve and ruben…I stopped doing Friday AM Quick tips last year. I’ve been traveling a lot on client builds and giving talks which have taken time away from videos. One goal for the fall is to get back to a more regular video release schedule.

  • Hal…every tank swap except this one has been driven by moves. With the move came an option to upgrade which I always welcomed.

  • Matt…I was wondering if anyone was going to notice! “nothing sharper than a tennis ball”…is this some witty British saying that I need to add to my vocabulary.

  • Michael says:

Can I be just a tad-bit jealous!!! lol That is a beautiful tank and well thought out system. DROOL!!! I met Rick & Vanessa at Fragniappe’ in Louisiana a few years back. Great people who are in this hobby to innovate & make things better and they share the same passion us other reef junkies have! Also, I just picked up a 5x2x2 150g from Planet Aquarium and LOVE it!!! Working on the stand now and plan to transfer livestock from my 90g soon. A video of your transfer would be awesome! Thanks for all your helpful info Mark!

  • jack says:

Hi Mark what did you do with the fish and coral do you still have them in your quarantine? If some one asks you at MACNA tomorrow its most likely me. thanks jack

  • jack…the fish and coral are all in holding tanks.

  • Michael…glad to hear you love your Planet Aquariums tank. I’ve always been happy with their work.

  • Jason says:

Is it true your giving it away in Omaha NE as a raffle?

  • Jason…it will be a raffle item at the Nebraska Aquatics Anniversary Celebration.

  • Dominic says:

Hi Mark. I love your videos and love watching you set up tanks etc but you never have a tank set up for long lol. Would love to see videos of a tank maturing over time like your old 90G 🙂

  • Dominic…me too!

  • John says:

Last time you said before with the first tank you were not going to use powerheads in this tank that is why you have the system to return the water overhead and wavebox? so why are you putting powerheads in the new tank?
